Hi everyone!
Welcome to the introduction of the series Learning to draw. These series of blog posts is intended to show my progress and struggles while learning how to draw.
A little bit about me
I’m a software developer with no background in art / design. I don’t have a natural talent in this area neither.
I want to learn how to draw because one of my goals is to create products / startups / etc, and the design is a big aspect of it. The first impression a person gets about something is how they look, and later they stay because of how much value the product bring into their lives, but the first step is to attract them.
My goal
My goal is not to be the best designer / artist nor an impressive one, but be proficient enough to draw something decent that doesn’t look bad and people can like.
I got some ideas of the styles I want to achieve and I follow some artists that I like and if it is possible I want to achieve those kind of styles someday (not perfect of course).
I was going to reference a few artists but for now I will not, maybe in the future I will make a little list and update this post.
How I will learn
I’m a complete novice so I want to start by doing a few tutorials about drawing first.
The one I will follow for now is The Ultimate Digital Painting Course – Beginner to Advanced but only the first sections at first as I want to learn the fundamentals of drawing and practice that before going into painting.
After completing the first sections, I will search another course or I will start trying to imitate drawings that I like. Also at the same time I do the course I want to do a few drawing challenges to practice.
If you have more recommendations please leave a comment : D I will appreciate it a lot.
And that’s it. I hope you follow along with me on this journey, and that you also try to learn something you want. That can be drawing, programming, 3D modeling, etc.
I hope you enjoyed the post, and I see you on the next one!
